What do you love doing outside of work?

Outside of work, I enjoy reading, both on my own and with the book clubs I am part of. Some of my favorite reads include Parable of the Sower, Death of the Author by Nnedi Okorafor, These Heathens by Mia McKenzie, and anything by Octavia Butler. I enjoy hiking and traveling whenever I can, and I really love meeting new people and learning about different cultures. Learning new languages is another passion of mine. I’m fluent in Yoruba, my second language, and conversational in Spanish. I can also speak some Portuguese, and I hope to become fluent in French one day after mastering Spanish. When I am not enjoying my hobbies, I also spend time volunteering with organizations in Atlanta, such as Helping Mamas and Lifting Our Voices.

Why did you decide to become a financial advisor?
I became a financial advisor because of my personal experience and how I grew up around money. As the child of immigrants, my parents came to the U.S. with a strong belief in education and hard work. What was often missing, however, was an understanding of what the American Dream truly means and how to preserve it through thoughtful financial planning. As I worked to educate myself and strengthen my own financial knowledge, I realized I wanted to share what I had learned with others in an empathetic and approachable way. Money can feel intimidating, and it is often difficult to take the next step when you are unsure how to plan for the future or how to make an impact through investing. I strongly believe in educating individuals about finance and helping them build confidence by focusing on what matters most to them. Whether that means investing with intention, supporting meaningful causes, or simply feeling secure about their financial future, my goal is to help people feel informed, empowered, and supported every step of the way.
What experiences do you bring to your work helping clients?
I have worked closely with clients to understand what matters most to them and to build thoughtful, personalized financial plans that align with their values and goals. My approach goes beyond managing financial plans and investments. I want clients to feel comfortable coming to me with any question or aspiration and to feel safe and supported in every financial decision they make. Being approachable and building trust are central to my work, as I believe strong relationships are the foundation of effective financial planning. I am a Certified Financial Planner and an Enrolled Agent, which allows me to take a comprehensive view of each client’s financial life. Understanding how taxes affect giving, investing, and long term planning is essential, and that is why I chose to become an Enrolled Agent. Taxes are a critical foundation of sound financial planning, and integrating tax strategy into every plan helps ensure clients are making informed and confident decisions. One of my favorite things I have helped clients change is their outlook on their financial future. I have worked with clients from many different backgrounds, and it is common for people to feel uncertain about whether what they have done so far is enough to reach their goals. Being able to present a financial plan that shows clients their hard work has not been in vain, and that their goals are truly within reach, is incredibly meaningful to me.
What’s one of your favorite things you’ve helped a client change in their life (financial or otherwise)?

I am reminded of a client who had paid off their mortgage and was earning a comfortable living doing work they loved. They prioritized travel and future experiences, but they were unsure whether they had saved enough for retirement. I shared with them that what they had accomplished was truly impressive and worth celebrating. While they appreciated the reassurance, they were still understandably nervous about what the full plan would reveal.

When I presented their plan, I had the opportunity to show them that their hard work had paid off and that the goals and projects most important to them were well within reach. As I walked them through the results and explained how they were positioned to achieve what they wanted, I could see the visible relief on their face. That moment was incredibly rewarding. Being able to then share strategies to further strengthen their plan and enhance their future made the experience even more fulfilling.

One issue that I am passionate about is:

One issue I am deeply passionate about is homelessness. It is something I believe should not exist, yet it remains a significant and growing problem in the United States and around the world. The mental and emotional stress associated with experiencing homelessness can have profound effects on children’s development, often preventing them from reaching their full potential.

People experience homelessness for many different reasons, and the impact can be life-changing. I am encouraged by the many organizations across the country and globally that are committed to addressing this issue and working toward long-term solutions. While homelessness is a complex challenge, it is a cause worth fighting for. Making a difference in even one person’s life truly makes all the difference.
